Okay let's get right to it, this is my hometown I was born and raised here and lived here most of my life. However, my radio career move me away for about 11 years but I came back like so many people do when they move away.

If you grew up here you tend to take things like living in two states for granted. After all, it's just a way of life here as we know it. So it's always amazing when someone comes to visit here or moves here, all the weird questions they ask about our town. I have decided to put together a list of the 'Top 10 Odd Things' I hear about Texarkana from out of town people.

1. I hear this one all the time, "Are we in Texas or Arkansas?" I swear I took someone downtown to take a picture in front of the post office and they still asked that question with the sign right in front of them. I say, Here's your sign!

2. Another one I hear, "Do you really have two different mayors?"

3. How do you say Texarkana? It's pronounced Tex-er-kana. Don't ask me why, but if you say Tex-R-kana everyone know you're not from around here.

4. Why are so many liquor stores on the Arkansas side and so many churches on the Texas side. I guess that if you drink too much you start to feel a little guilty so you can cross the street and go to church.

5. Why are there so many banks here?

6. What happens when there is an accident on State Line which police responds to the accident Texas or Arkansas?

7. Really, There's a lake in Texarkana? Yes there is.

8. What is that awful smell in the air? Paper Mill in Ashdown and if you ask Asdown residents they say, the smell of money.

9. Is this really the town that dreaded sundown? Speaking about the notorious unsolved mystery of the Phantom serial killer.

10. Have you ever seen the Fouke monster? Southwest Arkansas' answer to the legendary bigfoot.

And finally, here's one that I get a lot when I travel and I'm wearing a name tag with Texarkana on it. Oh yeah Texarkana, never stop there but I pass through there all the time.

Here's what some of you said on my Facebook page about quirky odd questions people have asked about Texarkana.
