We just finished up our Kicker 102.5 Country Cares For St. Jude Kids radiothon raising $45, 584. And this year marked the very first time we teamed up with our other Townsquare Media country stations nationwide to raise $1,059,783 for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital March 6-7 on the air and online.

According to a press release issued by ALSAC/St. Jude Children's Hospital.

“Townsquare stations have been supporting St. Jude for years. This year we were excited to unite 20 markets for our first national two-day event,” said Kurt Johnson, Senior Vice President of Programming for Townsquare Media. “In addition to our local radio effort, Taste of Country, our country music and entertainment website, joined the fight and shared stories from St. Jude patients and country music artists.”

In Texarkana we learned of an almost two-year old boy John Foreman from Horatio, Arkansas who was celebrating his first year of being cancer-free since being treated at St. Jude. I would also like to thank our local volunteers including a long time Kicker listener Brandy Haworth who has been donating for years during our radiothon and wanted to give back in a special way by taking off from her work to volunteer.

Everyone who became a Partner in Hope in our two day event went into a drawing for some great prizes including the Grand Prize: George Strait Concert Weekend won by Tony Rutledge of Texarkana.

Thanks again for making this years St. Jude radio event a huge success! Just for the record this marked the 25th Anniversary of the 'Country Cares' radiothon on country radio  since Randy Owen (Alabama) spearheaded this joint effort.
