A few weeks ago, I was driving down State Line Avenue and noticed trash in the gutter and trash blowing down the street. Then a car pulled out and the driver threw his garbage straight out of the window. What happened to taking pride in our city?

I've noticed lately that there are numerous streets, highways and even parking lots that have a lot of trash that seem to never get picked up.

But the real problem is that people shouldn't litter in the first place. Who taught anyone this was okay?

As a lifelong member of my hometown, I am embarrassed at what I've seen lately. Trash on our streets represents what I don't want visitors to see and what I don't want to see either. When I was a kid I used to see street sweepers on a regular basis but I hardly see them anymore. But I can say "thanks" to the city yesterday because I saw them picking up trash off the interstate.

Now, what I love about Texarkana are the people. This is a great community when it comes to helping others and it's a great place to raise a family. As far as working here I'm sure there are many opinions, but for me I get to do what I've always loved and what I've wanted to do since I was very young.

I feel very blessed to be able to flip the microphone on or pen a story, entertaining listeners  and readers on a daily basis. If I can make you smile when you've had a bad day or inspire you with something I've said or done then it makes my job well worth it and rewarding.

It's the fans, friends and the co-workers I've come to know over the years that's made me love what I do. So thanks for letting me be a part of your life all these years in your car, at home and online. I really do appreciate it.
