Well it's finally Fat Tuesday, last day to celebrate Mardi Gras. Texarkana celebrated this past weekend with Mardi Gras on Front Street.

The weather may have been chilly but that didn't dampen the spirit of the revelers who came downtown to enjoy all the festivities. Everywhere I turned parents and kids were having a good time and many were dressed for the occasion with hats, scarves, feathers and lots of colorful beads. And what would a Mardi Gras celebration be without a little gumbo and crawfish right? Our sister station Majic 93-3's "The Godfather" entertained the crowd with plenty of zydeco music, he had them dancing in the streets. Jim, Lisa, Keeta and myself were out in full force announcing the events throughout the day. The first ever Beast Feast competition were cooking up some great food to benefit Harvest Texarkana.

The first parade was very small the Krewe of Barkus, Meoux and Little Rascals featured pets and kids of all ages. The second parade the Zany Cajun Parade featured golf carts, side by sides, ATV's, Jeeps and Motorcycles. Then finally the grand parade the Krewe of Koinonia featuring Mardi Gras floats, antique cars and classic cars. Oh, did I mention lots of beads thrown out to a large crowd watching.

Here are a few pics from this year's event.
