In case you haven't heard the annual Hope Watermelon Festival scheduled for early August 2020 has been canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

One of my personal favorite festivals of the year will return on August 5-7, 2021 bigger and better than ever. The Hope Watermelon Festival has been entertaining families and guests for decades with family-oriented activities. Other than enjoying some of the biggest homegrown melons by the slice, the festival also featured smoked chicken, fried catfish, and lots of great-tasting fair food. The three-day event also featured a 5K race, dog show, "Watermelon Idol" talent contest, and local businesses enjoyed the Watermelon Olympics Competition.

One of the oldest festivals in the state has been around since the 1920s, this would have marked the 44th year for the festival.

Festival organizers regret not being able to have this festival but the concern for their employees and festival-goers are their top priority during this difficult time.
