Spectacular Total Lunar Eclipse in Texarkana This March
Saturday marks the first day of March and there are three things to look forward to in the month ahead.
🌗 Date + Time of Lunar Eclipse
🌒Totality of Lunar Eclipse
Month of the Total Lunar Eclipse
Besides a 7 planetary alignment in our night sky to kick start the month, the first day of spring arrives on Thursday, March 21, at 4 AM central time. Additionally, this year's first total lunar eclipse will occur on March 14, which hasn't happened since 2022.
According to Space.com., this global event is called the "Blood Moon" because of the reddish tint it projects when the moon enters the darker shadow of the Earth's shadow called the umbra. The best views of the total lunar eclipse will be visible in North America, South America, and the Pacific Ocean.
Time of Lunar Totality - Texarkana - Totality Lasts 65 Minutes
Lunar eclipse totality begins at 1:26 AM Central time on March 14 in Texarkana and will be completed by 2:31 AM. The end of the penumbral phase of the eclipse will be finished in about 6 hours because the alignment begins on March 13, at 10:57 PM.

Be Prepared To Stay Up Late
The lunar eclipse happens when the Sun, Earth, and Moon align so that the moon passes into the Earth's Shadow. The good news is that you can view the eclipse safely with the naked eye or binoculars and if you have a telescope that's the the best view.
No matter how many times you've seen a lunar eclipse it's always a sight to see and a little eerie too especially when the moon starts to glow a deep red-orange color. NASA.gov. reminds stargazers when the lunar eclipse occurs that night look toward the western sky to see Jupiter and Mars. As always, stay away from bright lights because the darker the better for the ultimate experience.
