One of my favorite times of the year, is the Christmas season and what better way to kick it off, than with the 27th Annual Main Street Texarkana Christmas Parade, December 5th, at 7pm. (Postponed until Thursday December 8th)

I can remember as a little boy my parents never let me miss a parade. If it was the fair parade my mom and dad would dress me up like a cowboy with boots, hat, and a toy gun and holster to go to the parade. During the Christmas parade back then, there were a lot more lights downtown and all the store windows were decorated with lights and tinsel. As I recall, my father would wrap me up in a blanket, put me on his shoulders and get me to wave at all the floats passing by. Of course, just like today the grand finale was Santa Claus. Times may have changed but one thing is still the same everyone loves a good parade. And with that being said...

Texarkana's first "Electric" Christmas Parade will roll Downtown on Monday, Dec. 5 at 7 p.m. With TOYLAND as the theme, honored Parade Marshals will be riding 3 LIVE camels from Texas Camel Corps. More than 100 entries are expected including lighted floats, bands, and of course Santa! The annual tree lighting and caroling will follow the parade. Horse-drawn buggy rides will continue through the season.

Be sure and look for the Kicker on-air staff in this year's Christmas parade and Merry Christmas!
