A Letter to my Mom on Mother’s Day
Mother's Day is this Sunday, May 14. You've heard the words "Mama's boy" well, I guess you could say that about me but I'm not ashamed to say it.
My mother, God rest her soul passed away in 2007 and not a day goes by that I don't think of her or miss her. But just because she has passed on, doesn't mean the memories, wisdom and inspiration she instilled in me, lives on through me. First off, she taught me that through God anything is possible. She encouraged me, inspired me, supported me, taught me to be kind to others but best of all, loved me unconditionally.
In my darkest moments she was always there to lift me up. Thank you for teaching me how to have faith when life gets tough, about trusting God and giving it all to him when things fail. She was admired and loved by many friends and family and she touched so many lives in her lifetime here on earth. She had a giving heart and would do anything for someone in need, always putting them first before herself. I miss our conversations, her smile and laughter. She was my biggest fan.
I remember a story my mother told me when I was born on Halloween. I was born in the wee hours of the morning and when the nurses brought me in for the first time, they said, Mrs. Garcia we have a treat for you, and she said, "Good because I've had all the tricks I could stand." I guess that's where I get my sense of humor.
I was truly blessed to have a mother like mine. She may have moved on to be with the lord but her spirit still remains with me everyday. Thanks for loving me as only a mother could do.
I Love You Mama. Happy Mother's Day!
Your son,
Mario J. Garcia
P.S., my mother would have loved this song.
