On Wednesday, February 3, two Ashdown High School students who are currently serving as Arkansas SkillsUSA State Officers were pinned in a special pinning ceremony held in Malvern at Arkansas State University - Three Rivers University.

Reagan Burden a sophomore at AHS  is serving in the position of Treasurer.  Chloe Silva is a sophomore and is serving in the position of Historian.
Ashdown High School SkillsUSA Sponsor Amy Silva said, "I am so proud of these girls. This year has obviously not been a normal experience for them as State Officers, but they have shown great flexibility and willingness to serve even in the face of a pandemic. I could not be more proud of them both."
According to their website, "SkillsUSA is a national membership association serving high school, college and middle school students who are preparing for careers in trade, technical and skilled service occupations, including health occupations, and for further education.  SkillsUSA is a partnership of students, teachers, and industry working together to ensure America has a skilled workforce.  SkillsUSA helps each student excel.”  Their mission is, “SkillsUSA empowers its members to become work-class workers, leaders, and responsible American citizens.  SkillsUSA improves the quality of our nation’s future skilled workforce through the development of Framework skills that include personal, workplace and technical skills grounded in academics."
“We are so blessed at Ashdown High School to partner with SkillsUSA in providing our students with different options of service while they are in school and to continue to provide them once they become graduates of AHS,” said Ashdown Superintendent Casey Nichols.
