Texas A&M University has stepped up to the plate and has donated COVID-19 tests to both CHRISTUS St. Michaels and to Wadley Regional Center.

Each hospital received 55 tests each yesterday. The tests were given to our branch of A&M by the Texas A&M University System. which made test donations to all of it 11 branches.

According to a press release the tests each consist of a swab, a vial with transport media to preserve the sample in the vial, and a bag.

How they came about the test is unique to say the least. They were developed from supplies stored at four Texas A&M Veterinary Medical Diagnostic laboratories across the state. These supplies can be used on humans.

John Sharp, chancellor of the Texas A&M University System said “No one has ever done this before, but tough times call for creative measures.” So true.
