DNA testing has now identified a Texarkana woman who had been missing since January 2025, bringing some answers, but also raising new questions for investigators.

Discovery Along Waggoner Creek

Back on August 12, 2025, we reported that Texarkana Texas Police detectives were at the Wagner Creek area near New Boston Road. They were joined by K9 teams from Texas Game & Fish as they searched for additional evidence connected to skeletal remains first discovered earlier that month.

Those remains were initially found on August 1, when a passerby walking along the creek bed near Highway 82, not far from Walmart, noticed what appeared to be human bones and contacted police.

That discovery prompted an immediate response and multiple follow-up searches. Authorities say those efforts led to the recovery of additional evidence from the area.

Texarkana Texas Police announced today, Monday, March 30, 2026, on their Facebook page, DNA testing results have come back and identified the remains as 43-year-old Amber French.  Amber was reported missing after her parents had not heard from her since January 2025.

Investigation Now Focused on Answers

Now that the victim has been identified as Amber, the focus of the case is shifting. Detectives are working to piece together what happened in the time leading up to her disappearance, and ultimately, how she died.

Police have not released many additional details at this time, but they say the investigation remains active. Anyone with information that could help is urged to contact the Texarkana Texas Police Department.
