Do you know someone who is making a big impact in the arts in Arkansas? Now is the time to let the world know and nominate them for the 2026 Governor's Arts Awards.

The Governor's Arts Awards are put on by the Arkansas Arts Council and they are officially accepting nominations now through Thursday, September 5.

Shea Lewis, the Secretary of the Arkansas Department of Parks, Heritage and Tourism, said in a press release,

The Governor’s Arts Awards are an opportunity to recognize those making a positive impact in the arts of our state. For more than 30 years, these awards have celebrated artists and those championing the arts in The Natural State.

Every year the awards not only celebrate individuals but also businesses and organizations throughout the state that have an active hand in supporting the arts in Arkansas.

The awards that will be given out include categories like Arts Community Development, Arts in Education, Corporate Sponsorship of the Arts, Folklife, Individual Artist, Patron and Lifetime Achievement.

All nominees must be currently an Arkansas resident or an Arkansas-based group. From teachers to program leaders, sponsors to volunteers. Anyone or organization that helps the arts grow and thrive in the state of Arkansas.

Marty Ryall, the Director of the Heritage Division of ADPHT said,

We are so fortunate in Arkansas to have such a thriving arts community. Again this year, we are seeking nominations that recognize those making noteworthy contributions.

The winners will be chosen by a panel of art professionals, and they will be honored at a special ceremony in Spring 2026. The date and more details will be announced at a later date.

You can nominate online at the Arkansas Heritage website or for more information, email Cheri Leffew at cheri.leffew@arkansas.gov.
