Arkansas State Police Seize Record Drugs and Cash in 2024
The Arkansas State Police (ASP) marked a banner year in 2024, seizing record amounts of illegal drugs, weapons, and cash during traffic stops across the state. Thanks to the efforts of ASP’s Interstate Criminal Patrol (ICP), officers significantly disrupted drug trafficking operations and made Arkansas highways safer.
Illegal marijuana seizures surged by nearly 50% compared to 2023, with more than 15,000 pounds confiscated. Cash seizures more than doubled, climbing from $1.4 million to an astonishing $3.3 million. Methamphetamine seizures saw the most dramatic increase, skyrocketing from 56 pounds in 2023 to an unprecedented 509 pounds in 2024.
ASP’s efforts also led to the confiscation of 44 illegal firearms—more than twice the number seized the previous year—while K9 units played a crucial role in detecting nearly 5,000 pounds of illegal marijuana, over 150 pounds of methamphetamine, and more than $1.2 million in illicit cash.
Additional seizures in 2024 included:
• 89 pounds of THC wax
• 13,000 illegal prescription pills
• 105 pounds of psilocybin mushrooms
• 201 bottles of promethazine
• 3,719 THC vapes
• 20 vehicles tied to criminal activity
ASP Director Colonel Mike Hagar credited the ICP’s relentless dedication for the year’s success.
“We are delivering a powerful and unmistakable warning to anyone transporting illicit narcotics along our interstates and highways – We will catch you, and you will face the consequences.”
With 2024 marking a year of record-breaking results, ASP remains steadfast in its mission to combat drug trafficking and protect Arkansas communities.
