One Arkansas State Police trooper has been receiving a lot of attention for his driving skills and pit maneuvers under dire situations.

Arkansas State Trooper Jacob Byrd The 'Pit King'

According to the Facebook page, Fun in Arkansas, Jacob Byrd has several nicknames like, "Pit Viper", "MadMax", and "The Byrd Man Cometh" but the name he goes by the most is the "Pit King."

Let me just say, that these names are not to glorify or to brag about what he does because what Arkansas State Trooper Byrd does is very dangerous not only to him but to the suspect he's chasing along with other drivers on the highway. First of all, troopers have to go through extensive training for 1,000 hours to gain the excellent driving skills needed to pursue a fleeing suspect on the road.

Just because you've mastered the art of a professional skilled driver doesn't always make what happens on the road any easier. There's always risk involved no matter the circumstances or situation. Jacob Byrd is a graduate of Bryant High School and the University of Arkansas at Little Rock and earned his law enforcement certificate in June 2020. A compilation of Trooper Byrd's videos can be watched on social media platforms like YouTube, Facebook, and TikTok. There are some specific channels on YouTube featuring Arkansas State Police chases including a dedicated channel from Trooper Byrd with over two dozen videos.
