Arkansas Trooper Traffic Stop Leads to 6 Kilo Cocaine Seizure
Traffic Stop Leads to Major Drug Seizure on I-57
A routine traffic stop along Interstate 57 in White County led to a significant drug seizure Sunday morning, according to a report by Arkansas State Police (ASP).
Trooper Discovers Suspected Cocaine
ASP says the stop happened around 9:30 AM near mile marker 48 when a Trooper pulled over a Chevrolet Silverado for a traffic violation. During the stop, Troopers conducted a search of the vehicle and discovered approximately six kilograms of suspected cocaine.
The estimated street value of the seized narcotics has not yet been released, but officials say the amount is considered a major trafficking quantity.
Driver Taken Into Custody
The driver, a 33-year-old man from South Texas, was taken into custody without incident at the scene. He was transported to the White County Detention Center, where he was booked on charges of trafficking a controlled substance, along with additional related offenses.
Investigators say the suspect told authorities he was traveling to St. Louis, Missouri, at the time of the stop.
Investigation Ongoing
Arkansas State Police say the investigation remains active as they work to determine the origin and intended distribution of the drugs. Additional charges could be filed as the case develops.
