It won't be long but one of Texarkana's favorite eateries will be opening in their expanded new location just off Highway 82 East in the former Tamolly's building.

The Dugout is a baseball-themed restaurant known for its huge burgers and monster-size hot dogs needed more space in their continued growing business and when Tamolly's closed their Hwy 82 location about 3 months ago it was pretty much a no brainer. The owners David Oliver and wife, Nicki are excited that the new location will give them six thousand square feet as opposed to 2,000 square feet, according to an interview with the Texarkana Gazette.

Lots of their customers have been asking if they will be expanding their menu as well and the answer was a resounding "Yes." Besides their already popular farm-raised catfish their new menu items will include boiled and fried shrimp, frog legs, and grilled shrimp. After talking with David Oliver he said, they will also serve beer and wine in the new location.

"Our new restaurant will also feature articles of memorabilia from local high school, college, and pro baseball players from the Texarkana region." "We want to highlight some of their accomplishments because we have a rich tradition of baseball players from here."

Their baseball-themed atmosphere is inspired by their love of baseball having coached it or watched their kids play the game growing up. The red, white, and blue exterior will give customers that All-American baseball feel, and the moment you walk in the door be expected to see pictures and lots of decor saluting the game.

If all goes according to plan, David says the new Dugout location will be open around the middle of August. Just check their Facebook page for further updates. Meanwhile, you can still enjoy all your favorites at their current location just a few doors down. The Olivers want to thank the Texarkana area for its continued support in helping them grow their business and for allowing them to be a part of this thriving community.

Gotta say, I've eaten here several times and I love those huge hot dogs they serve up and the burgers are awesome too! Oh, The Dugout is one of the few places you can get a fried bologna sandwich.

By the way, they have daily specials. Today I had their delicious Patty Melt, home-cut fries, and drink for only $10.
