Arrest Made Following Child Exploitation Investigation

Authorities in Baxter County have arrested a Gamaliel man following an investigation into alleged child exploitation offenses.

According to the Arkansas State Police, 61-year-old Michael Raymond Wamser Jr. was taken into custody after investigators executed a search warrant at his residence on April 27, 2026.

Explosive Device and Evidence Discovered

During the search, special agents reported that Wamser admitted to operating multiple online accounts allegedly used to download and view child sexual abuse material.

Investigators also located an improvised explosive device inside a closet near a bedroom. The Bentonville Police Department Bomb Squad responded, safely removed the device, and later carried out a controlled detonation.

Authorities say suspected psychedelic mushrooms, kratom, and drug paraphernalia were also recovered. In addition, approximately 50 firearms were seized from the home.

Multiple Felony Charges Filed

Wamser was booked into the Baxter County Detention Center and is being held on a $400,000 bond.
