Residents in parts of Leary, Texas, are now under a precautionary boil-water notice after a bad weather incident that caused a sudden loss of pressure in the city's water system. The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) has required the City of Leary, Texas (ID 0190093) to issue this advisory as a precaution to protect public health.

The areas affected are:

  • Leary and Earnest Roads
  • Bronco Drive
  • FM 2253
  • FM 2220

Residents in those areas are requested to boil all water for at least two minutes before using it for drinking, cooking, or hygiene purposes, including brushing your teeth or washing your hands. Any ice made from tap water should be discarded. Bottled water or another safe source should be used if boiling is not an option for you.

Health officials warn that infants, young children, seniors, and people with weakened immune systems are particularly vulnerable to potential contaminants.

Boiling the water helps to remove harmful bacteria and ensures the water is safe for consumption.

The boil water notice for Leary will remain in effect until an adequate disinfectant level is established throughout the distribution system and a bacteriological survey shows that the water is safe to drink.. City officials will notify residents once the advisory is lifted.
