Bones the Skeleton is Turning Heads in Texarkana Neighborhood
It's less than a week away from Halloween and a Skeleton named "Bones" has been grabbing the attention of not only the neighborhood he resides in but folks in the Texarkana area are making special trips just to see what "Bones" is up to next.
The lighthearted and sometimes humourous display is a creative idea thought up by a lovely Texarkana couple Cindy and Mike Malone. The displays are family-friendly with no scary or frightening scenes. Hey look y'all, it's Blake Skeleton.
I just hope he washes behind his ears.
Family Inspiration
In speaking with them recently I asked them what inspired them to want to do this and the answer was simple, "the grandkids." She said her family and grandchildren all live in three different time zones so getting to see them all can be somewhat of a challenge putting a family-oriented fun display with "Bones" in their front yard and FaceTiming the grandkids every day to show them just seemed like the logical thing to do.
So far they're loving it and so is the neighborhood, in fact, neighbors have been asking will "Bones" be around for the holiday season, the Cryptkeepers, The Malones said,
Unfortunately, "Bones" only comes out during the day in the month of October and then he goes back into the crypt until next year.
Cindy went on to tell me that a lot of the items that "Bones" uses in the display are personal items from her husband Mike. She said laughing, Mike is a hoarder and keeps everything. Is that Mike's cap?
And I told Mike, that's because one day you may need it and you'll have it. He agreed saying, "This is a perfect example of why I keep everything." with a laugh.
The Malones get up every morning at around 5:30 to change out the display and shut it down by 7 p.m. to get ready for the next day.
This is what you call a labor of love for not only the grandkids but for anyone who wants to put a smile on their face. I believe "Bones" may have waited too long to apply for Medicare.
After all, we all could use a little of that for what's going on in the world right now, by the way, "Bones" has been a cowboy fan for a long time too!
If you want to see "Bones" and what he's up to next you're invited to drive by their address at 3521 Skyline Drive in Texarkana, Texas.
Bones and The Malones is now a family tradition!
Looks like "Bones" has been rocking way too long. Y'all come to see me.
Do you know of any other creative displays around Texarkana?
