Bowie, Morris and Other Counties Added To The ‘Burn Ban’ List
Even though we have had small amounts of rain scattered around the area the last few days, the weather forecast continues to be dry and hot at least through this week and maybe deep into next week as well. As of Thursday, September 12, 2019, the following counties are under a "Burn Ban" in East Texas, Southwest Arkansas and Northwest Louisiana. Click on the links below to see all the counties and parishes affected.
Texas, as of Thursday morning, now has a total of 176 counties currently with an active burn ban, in our listening area of East Texas they are:
- Bowie
- Morris
- Cass
- Marion
- Harrison
- Upshur
- Greg
- Rusk
In Arkansas there are 12 counties under burn ban, 10 of which are within our listening area:
- Miller
- Pike
- Lafayette
- Columbia
- Nevada
- Hempstead
- Howard
- Dallas
- Union
- Ouachita
Only 2 Parrishes have burn bans in Louisiana at this time:
- Sabine
- Union
Only 1 county in Oklahoma so far but it's way over just north of Witchita Falls, Texas.
Please do not burn trash, leaves, campfires or any other type of fire in these locations until these bans have been lifted. If caught burning during a ban you could be subject to heavy fines and even jail time.
