You would think that the spooky month would end with October 31 Halloween misadventures around town, oh, but you would be wrong.

Texarkana College’s Board of Trustees celebrated notable achievements at their meeting Monday, with a strong focus on advancing workforce education through a new plumbing program and recognizing Trustee George Moore for his recent award.

Arrest rates returned to normal last week in Bowie County with an almost 50% increase over the previous week. Bowie County Sheriff Jeff Neal reports 77 persons arrested in the county. Bowie County deputies brought in 17 of those, while another 60 were turned over by other law enforcement agencies to BCSO.

Historic Downtown Texarkana will honor Dr. Otis Williams, a founding member of The Temptations, with a special plaque dedication ceremony on Wednesday, October 30, 2024, at noon. The event will also celebrate Dr. Williams' 83rd birthday.

Christopher Monroe, 44, of Little Rock, received a federal prison sentence of 17 and a half years for drug trafficking and gun-related crimes. U.S. District Judge Brian Miller issued the sentence Wednesday, following Monroe’s April guilty plea.
