Chris Young is encouraging his fans and followers to donate to Hurricane Harvey relief efforts. The singer has set up a GoFundMe campaign to help raise money for those affected by the natural disaster.

Young is a Tennessee native, but he lived in Arlington, Texas, prior to signing his record deal. He's also, of course, toured throughout Texas, and owns a home that's located in one of the areas hardest hit by Hurricane Harvey. Young is "fairly positive" that house has been destroyed and "may have to be torn down," but he's far more concerned about his loved ones in the area.

"Port Aransas, Corpus Christi, Houston, Rockport and so many other places are going to be dealing with so much damage and loss of life for a long time to come," Young says in a video message, which readers can watch above. "I'm worried about the people there — like I said, my friends, family and neighbors — and I want to help."

To kick-start his GoFundMe campaign, the funds from which will be donated to the Red Cross and other local Texas disaster relief organizations, Young donated $100,000. As of publication time, Young's GoFundMe for Hurricane Harvey relief has raised just under $139,000 of Young's target goal of $500,000.

"Every little bit helps," Young writes on the GoFundMe page. "In times like these, you turn to your friends to help those in need, and that's exactly what I'm doing."

In addition to Young's GoFundMe campaign, a number of others for those affected by Hurricane Harvey have been set up; visit GoFundMe.com/HurricanHarvey to see them all.

Hurricane Harvey has dumped two feet or more of rain on areas near the Texas coast and in the eastern part of the state; even more rain is coming over the next few days, too. CNN reports that officials are expecting 450,000 people to need disaster relief assistance.

"This is a landmark event for Texas," says FEMA Administrator Brock Long. "Texas has never seen an event like this."
