CHRISTUS St. Michael Hospital- Atlanta announced it now has a new CT scanner known as the uCT ATLAS Astound from United Imaging. This is new equipment will give doctors faster and more accurate images while also being safer and more comfortable for the patients. This new scanner not only uses lower radiation, it scans faster and has clear pictures.
According to the press release, Rachel Bouchard, the administrative director at the Atlanta hospital, said,
This new technology represents years of planning and dedication. It brings a level of diagnostic precision and patient comfort that was previously unavailable in our region.

Now, patients won't have to travel to Texarkana for this technology; they can stay closer to home. And the scanner has been blessed too!
CT scans are necessary for doctors to get a close-up look at the inside of the body. They can track things like tumors and infections or injuries to the head and organs like the heart and lungs.
Early detection is critical in so many medical situations and this new scanner will be such a great asset in helping the surrounding rural communities get the medical attention needed and quickly.
