City of Texarkana Ar. Hears Concerns of Strays & Requests For Animal Shelter Updates
The Texarkana Arkansas Board of Directors met last night. There were a lot of Texarkana citizens, including representatives from local animal rescue organizations who spoke up about the large number of stray and abandoned dogs and cats in our area.
Citizens Concern of The Overpopulation of Stray Animals
There were several requests for an update on the Texarkana Animal Shelter and its new facility, plus the problem of unanswered calls to the city's Animal Control Department. The concerns of the animal overpopulation in our town and the lack of social media updates from the Animal Shelter.
I find it interesting that I decided to watch the video of the meeting this morning because most of the meeting was about citizens talking about their concerns on the overpopulation of dogs and cats in our city. Why do I find this interesting?
My husband and I see many stray dogs and cats in our neighborhood. We have what seems like an unabandoned cat at our house right now that we are taking care of and hoping to rehome her soon. Know anyone that might want a sweet kitty?
Organization to Help With The Cost of Spaying & Neutering
In the meeting, several mentioned a nonprofit group called Fix TXK that helps with the cost of these animals to try and get a handle on the overpopulation.
I hope both cities of Texarkana can work together and address these issues. You can watch the video of the meeting below.
