
Florida Couple Unearths Second Largest Diamond of the Year in Arkansas
Another big diamond was recently found at the Crater of Diamonds State Park in Arkansas and it's one of the largest found this year.
Scott and Jennifer Freitas of New Port Richey, Florida, took a road trip and made a stop in Arkansas at Crater of Diamonds and they are bringing home a nice souvenior from the Natural State. The diamond they found turned out to be the second largest diamond found at the park this year.
A Geologist's Dream Come True in Arkansas
Jennifer has a degree in geology so she knows all about rocks and minerals and gems. So coming to Crater of Diamonds was on top of her list for their road trip threw Alabama and Miississippi to Arkaksas.
The diamond they found is a 3.36 carat white diamond.

They arrived at the park located near Murfreesboro, Arkansas, on Tuesday July 1 and got to work with buckets in hand and went to the wet-sifting station where you and wash the dirt from the gravel and stones through a mesh netting.

After a couple of buckets Jennifer was thinking that they weren't going to find anything. Then her husband started sifting the third bucket and that when he spotted something sparkle and said
Hey, I think I have one!
At first she didn't believe him but then she saw it and knew. When they took it up to be identified she was correct it was a diamond. .
Caleb Howell the Park Superintendent said in a press release.
I was stunned when I saw the pictures of the diamond. The shape, clarity, color, and size made it a beautifully natural gemstone. It was a great reminder of the awesomeness of Crater of Diamonds State Park.
Their white diamond is described as crystal clear in the center with soft off-white edges. It's about the size of a blueberry.
The Dash Diamond: A Gem Named After a Beloved Pet
The Freitas have named the diamond the Dash Diamond, after their dog.
