Have you ever heard about the mysterious  Blowing Cave in Cushman, Arkansas?

Legend has it that there are several secret passageways that lead to a mysterious underworld full of mystifying creatures and a race of human-like beings that stand 7-8 feet tall, and are known as the blue people because of their unusual skin color.

For years Blowing Cave was off-limits to the general public because it was privately owned land but the new owner has opened it back up for visitors who are curious about the myth. However, the cave is only open on Sunday a sign that is posted near the cave reads.

Cave Closed No Trespassing "Open Sunday Only free from 1:30 PM -5-30 PM available for rent by the day noon to noon."

The Independence County Sheriff's Department and the Arkansas Drug Task Force patrol the area on a regular basis for any violations. Anyone that is planning a visit to Blowing Cave must have written or texted permission from Jim Miller or be subject to arrests or trespassing tickets. The owner will not be responsible for any injuries, heart attacks, strokes, or abduction by aliens, or ghosts.

Yeah, that last statement spooked me too.

Blowing Cave has lots of very unique rock formations, canyons, and even a waterfall. The secret underworld supposedly lies between some hidden crevices in the cave. Let's just say, if you don't like being underground or being in tight spaces you probably won't like this experience.

This whole legendary underworld thing was brought on by an author Richard Shaver who wrote a book based on his experience called The Shaver Story. After the book was published another man George D. Wright backs up the claim by saying he had found the secret tunnels that led to the underworld that Shaver wrote about in his book.

That led to another author Branton who wrote the book, The Underground Empire, and shared his experience of seeing the very tall blueish tint people.

Whether you believe their stories are fiction or non-fiction, the mystery still remains at Blowing Cave in Arkansas. Tours are FREE from Noon to 5 PM on Sunday only and guided tours are available for $45. Find out more on their Facebook page.
