Texarkana drivers. I have said a mouthful, but what one traffic violation do you notice Txarkana drivers doing the most?

So last week I asked ya'll on our Facebook page what traffic violation you noticed the 'wonderful drivers' in Texarkana committing, and the answers were not too surprising.

Here are the top 5 traffic violations that Texarkana drivers do every day.

5. Speeding

Traci like most of us has noticed that people are speeding now more than ever. I have noticed more people speeding on the access road in town especially. I actually did a story on this last year. 'Why Does Everyone Drive Crazy On This Road?"

4. Merging onto the Interstate

I feel this is the most dangerous thing that drivers in our area are guilty of. It is not necessarily a traffic violation but it is so dangerous when people do not speed up enough to merge with traffic. With all of the highway construction that is going on in Texarkana, I had to include this on the list.

3. Distracted Driving

Distracted driving, texting while driving, and being on your phone while driving are big issues in our town. Distracted driving can get you a ticket and it is just not safe.

 2. Running Redlights

I was a little surprised this came in at number 2. Anyone who drives in this town needs to be aware of the fact that people run red lights everywhere. Especially in Richmond Road and the off-ramp areas in Texarkana. I have had to stop when I had a green light more than once from someone running a red light.

1. Not Using Your Blinker

Yes, this is a moving violation and there is a fine if you don't use your turn signal. According to the Arkansas State Police:

A signal of intention is always required when someone: changes lanes or turns right or left. And should be on continuously during the action. not less than the last 100 feet traveled by the vehicle before changing lanes or turning

Honorable Mention. Not using your headlights when it is raining.

Did you know that if it is raining in Arkansas and you have on your wipers, you must have on your headlights? If you do not have on your headlights you could be fined. All of the details on this can be found in the story I did last year.

LOOK: See how much gasoline cost the year you started driving

To find out more about how has the price of gas changed throughout the years, Stacker ran the numbers on the cost of a gallon of gasoline for each of the last 84 years. Using data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics (released in April 2020), we analyzed the average price for a gallon of unleaded regular gasoline from 1976 to 2020 along with the Consumer Price Index (CPI) for unleaded regular gasoline from 1937 to 1976, including the absolute and inflation-adjusted prices for each year.

Read on to explore the cost of gas over time and rediscover just how much a gallon was when you first started driving.
