Southerners do Christmas big, but this state takes the cake.

By far, Christmas is the most expensive holiday. Aside from the gifts, we are willing to fork over loads of cash on decorations, events, markets, shows, tree lightings, movies, food, candy... the list goes on and on and on. And the best part is that it doesn't feel like we're wasting money because it's the magic of Christmas we're creating.

Texas believes this philosophy wholeheartedly, evidently.

According to Southern Living and a survey conducted by SkinStore.com, everything is bigger in Texas including the Christmas bill. The average person in the Lone Star State will spend $900 on gifts this year.

Just. Gifts.

To put that into perspective, the lowest-spending state in the country is Washington, whose average citizen will only spend $180. I think I need to move to Washington. To me, it's not a matter of the amount of money you spend, but rather the quality of time spent.

How much are you spending this year?
