Great... Now it feels like my skin is crawling.

Have you noticed that the weather seems to have a serious case of PMS lately? One day it's hot and humid, the next day it's cold and windy. It can't make up its mind. Well this PMS could be the reason your house has BMSB.

Brown marmorated stink bugs.

Now, before you freak out, according to Orkin these guys are not harmful. They feed on fruits, veggies and other crops, not human flesh and blood. They are unwanted in a home because they're bugs (duh!) and because they have an unpleasant smell, especially if they get smashed.

So why are they in your home?

These stink bugs like warm weather. Before the winter hits, they seek warm shelter to spend their least favorite season. During this time they lay their eggs so that they may hatch when the weather warms up. However, due to the indecisiveness of the temperatures outside, some of these bugs are coming out of hiding prematurely. Once they are subject to the cold they immediately seek that warm place to hide again... a.k.a. your house.

Your best defense is to seal up any and all cracks and openings in your home. This will be a win-win for you since doing this will also help lower your electric bill.

By the way, the stink bugs we had growing up in California were at least twice as big and were black beetles. When provoked they would stick their rears up in the air and release that awful scent. Oh, we also had to walk to 16 miles to school, uphill, in the snow.
