Faith Hill performed the classic gospel song "What a Friend We Have in Jesus" during Aretha Franklin's funeral on Friday morning (Aug. 31). The final farewell for the Queen of Soul took place in Franklin's hometown of Detroit, Mich.

"Celebrate Aretha ... Sing with me!" Hill urged the large crowd gathered at the Greater Grace Temple to pay their respects. Hill was backed during her performance by a gospel choir.

Hill is one of 19 performers for Franklin's funeral service; she joins Jennifer Hudson, Stevie Wonder, Jennifer Holliday and more. In 2011, Hill and Franklin recorded an unreleased duet together, which was originally set to appear on Franklin's album A Woman Falling Out of Love, according to the Detroit Free Press.

In the wake of Franklin's death, several country singers have offered up tribute performances in honor her lasting impact on music. Chris Stapleton and Miranda Lambert are just a couple of the artists who included homages to the legendary singer in their recent setlists.

At the time of her death on Aug. 16, Franklin was 76. She was reported to be "gravely ill" earlier in the week, and died at her home in Detroit. She charted more than 100 singles on the Billboard charts and won a total of 18 Grammy Awards.

Franklin was the first woman to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. She is remembered for her massive catalog of iconic songs, including "Respect," "I Never Loved a Man (the Way That I Love You)," "Think" and many others.
