Grandmother Arrested For Leaving Children In Car While Shopping
A Texarkana Grandmother faces
abadoning/endangering a child
charges after leaving children in
her vehicle while she shopped.
Texarkana, Texas Police arrested and charged 41 year old Dunashautta Moore after receiving a call of children being left unattended in a vehicle in the 4000 block of New Boston Road. Officers found the three children, ages 10, 2, and a 1 month old inside the vehicle with the windows rolled halfway down.
Officers determined the temperature was 100 degrees outside the vehicle at the time which was yesterday afternoon.
Authorities say the oldest child was able to give them the name of her grandmother, who was then contacted by cell phone. Police say the woman allegedly finished her shopping before responding to the vehicle. It was estimated that a total of 19 minutes had elapsed from the time she entered the store until she returned to the vehicle.
Child Protective Services was called to the scene. The children were released to the custoday fo their aunt after being evaluated by Lifenet Emergency Personnel. Moore was booked into the Bi-State Justice Center and is awaiting bond.
