Harvest Regional Food Bank Kicks Off Summer Feeding Program For Miller Co Kids
Our kids might get a summer vacation but their bellies still need to get fed and Harvest Regional Food Bank is here to help. Harvest is sponsoring the summer feeding program for Miller County Children in Texarkana, AR, June 1 – August 6.
It's All Free?
This summer, children can pick up the free lunches through the Summer Feeding Program, which is sponsored by Harvest Regional Food Bank and available for kids ages 1‐18 years. No applications are necessary, all children and teens are welcome.
Hot meals will be provided to all children without charge and the same meals will be served to all children, regardless of race, color, national origin, sex, age or disability. The Summer Feeding program is designed to replace free and reduced-price meals that the children would normally get at school, after school has dismissed for the summer.
This Program makes sure all children can eat healthy food during the summer months when they cannot get a good meal at school. One in five Arkansas children are what they call now "food insecure," which means they have limited or uncertain access to safe and nutritious food.
