Hey Texarkana, It’s Time to Turn The Clocks Back This Weekend
Ahhh, this weekend we all get that hour back that we lost in the springs when we moved to Daylight Saving Time. This weekend we go back to Standard Time.
Some people will stay up later out and about with friends, while others might watch TV and get an extra movie in this weekend. Then there are the rest of us that used to do all that stuff and now we just look forward to the extra hour of sleep. Yes, I guess that is a sign of getting older. Enjoying our sleep.
The time has come for us to turn our clocks back one hour this Saturday night, (November 2) before we go to bed. The time doesn't officially change until 2 AM that is when the time will all of a sudden be 1 AM. Just like magic well, kinda.
Remember the saying 'Fall Back and Spring Forward' I wonder if they actually meant to do that or if it is just a coincidence. Either way, it's a pretty brilliant way to remember it.
A lot of states have signed on to stay in Daylight Saving Time all year round. So why has it not happened yet? Daylight Savings time was used in the US during both World War I and World War II. but wasn't used during peacetime until a law went into effect in 1966. The law supposedly states that a state can opt out of daylight savings but can not stay in daylight saving time permanently. Nice big hiccup that Congress needs to address but I guess just doesn't have the time.
This is a great time to check the batteries on your smoke and carbon monoxide alarms too.
Enjoy your extra hour this weekend to do whatever you want!
