UA Hope-Texarkana Prepares Students for High-Demand Technical Careers
As manufacturers and industrial employers across southwest Arkansas and northeast Texas continue looking for skilled workers, the University of Arkansas Hope-Texarkana is helping students prepare for careers that keep businesses and industries running.
Hands-On Training for In-Demand Careers
UAHT offers hands-on training in several technical fields, including Electromechanical Technology, Welding, and Industrial Maintenance. The programs are designed to give students practical skills that can lead directly to employment or advancement in high-demand careers.
Students learn how to troubleshoot equipment, repair machinery, work with electrical and mechanical systems, fabricate materials, and maintain the equipment industries rely on every day. Graduates are prepared for jobs in manufacturing, production, construction, transportation, utilities, and industrial maintenance.
Programs Designed to Meet Workforce Needs
"Our technical programs are built to give students the real-world training they need to enter the workforce with confidence," said Jennifer Teresa, UAHT dean of technical and industrial programs.
The Electromechanical Technology program covers industrial electricity, motor controls, mechanical systems, industrial equipment, and automation. Welding students receive hands-on instruction in welding techniques, blueprint reading, metal fabrication, and workplace safety. Industrial Maintenance students develop the skills needed to maintain, troubleshoot, and repair equipment used in modern production facilities.

UAHT officials say technical education offers an affordable path to a rewarding career, allowing many students to gain job-ready skills in less time than a traditional four-year degree. The programs are designed for recent high school graduates, adult learners, career changers, and anyone interested in hands-on work.
Enrollment Now Open for Fall Classes
Enrollment is now open for fall classes. Students interested in technical programs or other areas of study are encouraged to apply and speak with an advisor about available options.
