Can you believe that Arkansas is listed as one of the most sinful states in America?

When you put a list together that mentions Arkansas it usually has something to do about the great outdoor spaces the national parks and the down-home feeling you get from almost anywhere in the natural state. Heck, most people consider us deep in the bible belt but a recent study may change all of that.

Wallethub put together a list of the most sinful states in the United States and it was very eye-opening for me. Here is what Wallethub says about their rankings:

WalletHub compared the 50 states across 47 key indicators of immoral or illicit behavior. Our data set ranges from violent crimes per capita to excessive drinking to the share of the population with gambling disorders.

So with these statistics, Nevada comes in first place followed by California, Texas, Florida, and Louisiana round out the top 5, but where does Arkansas stand? Well, we come in at 16 just behind Oklahoma. But when you break down some of the factors this is where it gets really bad.

Arkansas is tied with Alaska and Louisiana at number one for violent crimes per capita. If you are curious Maine has the fewest violent crimes per capita. It is also top 5 in the laziest states with the fewest percentage of adults, not exercising. It is also top 4 in excess and jealousy as well as but it was just ranked 37th in greed.

But it is not all bad Arkansas is one of the lowest-ranked states that spent on adult entertainment sites. So it is not all bad right? With Texas, Louisiana, and Oklahoma ranking higher Arkansans have a lot to be proud about.

What do you think about this study? Does it really show a true representation of sinfulness in Arkansas and our neighboring states?
