We have all seen it at one time or another when you see a car parked in your neighborhood and you think, "Hey wait a minute, can you actually really park your car like that?" 

 

The state of Arkansas has some pretty clear laws on how you can park your car in any neighborhood in the state. Of course, cities and towns can add to those state laws but in general, the state laws for parking are pretty straightforward. So here is what we found out. The simple answer is yes you can park along the curb unless and there is a big unless, your vehicle is blocking a public or private driveway then that is against the law.

You also might want to bring a tape measure with you because you also must be at least 15 feet away from a fire hydrant and 20 feet from a crosswalk or intersection.

 

Is it Illegal to Park on The Sidewalk?

Now, I have seen this in a lot of neighborhoods especially if there's a family get-together or a party going on. Parking on the sidewalk is illegal! That's right it is against the law. Chances are if you are in good standing with your neighbors you might be able to get away with it (if you invite them to your party) but if you and your neighbors don't get along...well they can call the police on you and you can get a ticket.
