Is the Ghost of Al Capone Roaming the Halls at Arkansas Hotel?
If you have ever been to Hot Springs, Arkansas you can't help but notice one of the most beautiful historic hotels on Bathhouse Row, The Arlington.
Historic Arlington Hotel
This symbolic hotel in Hot Springs was built in 1875 across the street from its current location and has had quite the story from building a new brick building to a fire that destroyed the building to moving to its current location and building the one you see today on Bathhouse Row.
The Arlington Hotel was most recently renovated to bring back the glitz and glamour of the golden era.
With that being said, many nationally known celebrities, movie stars, and entertainers have graced the halls of this glorious hotel.
Guests who stay at this wonderful hotel situated between the Ouachita Mountains are said to have some strange occurrences happen to them. Supposedly Room 824 is the most haunted in the hotel and guests sometimes request this room to see if they can experience anything supernatural. For example, guests have reported seeing items fall off a shelf, lights flickering on and off and the bathroom sink turning on by itself.
Things that Go Bump in the Night
Fast forward to today, and staying at the Arlington Hotel is luxurious but don't be surprised if you don't feel or see something you can't explain. Because the Arlington Hotel is said to be haunted by the ghosts of the past.
Stay in the Al Capone Suite
The notorious mafia gangster Al Capone even had his room when he visited Hot Springs during the prohibition era when gambling was rampant in the spa city. According to Lindsey with All About Arkansas, Al Capone used to stay in room 443, guests who stayed in that room reported someone jiggling the doorknob to the adjoining room only to find out no one was in the other room. The room is non-smoking but guests smell the stench smell of a cigar that lingers in the air, Al Capone loved smoking cigars. When in town he used to rent the whole 4th floor for his mob and body guards.
Other guests who have stayed in the Arlington Hotel have reported seeing what looks like a woman in a white flowing gown walking down the hall on the 7th floor.
You know what they say heaven is supposed to be on the 7th floor but maybe not in this case. Footprints at times will appear in front of room 723, that's all I need to say, see ya later.
Arkansas' Largest Hotel is a sight to behold whether you believe in ghosts are not, it's still worth the stay in one of Arkansas' most beautiful hotels in Hot Springs.
