The Texarkana Arkansas Police Department made eleven impaired driving arrests, one underage driving under the influence arrest, and one minor in possession of alcohol arrest during a recent crackdown on impaired driving with an emphasis on underage drinking prevention.

The Arkansas side police joined forces with other state and local law enforcement agencies and highway safety partners in conducting the crackdown campaign which featured high visibility enforcement combined wiht a variety of outreach activities, including paid statewide advertising. The City of Texarkana, Texas Parks and Recreation Department's Annual Spring Community-wide Garage Sale is this Saturday April 30, 2011 from 8 am to 3 pm. This one day sale will feature over 100 booths with treasures awaiting new owners. The garage sale will be at Spring Lake Park in the area between Swanger Field and the old swimming pool.  If you need more information you can contact the Parks Department at (903) 798-3978.

Also in conjunction with the  Community Spring Garage Sale the city of Texarkana, Texas is also holding its quarterly Electronics Recycling Day Saturday. The electronics recycling drop off will be located iin the parking lot across from the old swimming pool and south of Monte Field at Spring Lake Park. From 10 am to 4 pm they will accept at no charge,  old computers, televisions, steros, and other small appliance . The event is presented by the City of Texarkana, Texas and Waste Management.

Also Saturday April 30, 2011 the Red Lick PTCO, Red Lick ISD will be having their Spring Community Expo and Shopping Extravaganza from 10 am to 3 pm at the Red Lick Elementary School Cafeteria. There will be lots of  crafts,  jewelry, clothing,  art,   food and concessions and much more. Door prizes will also be given away. There are still a few booths available for rental as well. Come and grab a nice gift for Mother's Day which is only about a week away!!!!!
