Texarkana Arkansas Police are investigating two seperate incidents which proved deadly last night.

Authorities were called to the Willows Apartment on East 35th Street around 8:30 p.m. on a disturbance call. While on scene officers heard gunshots coming from the back of the complex. They found a large crowd dispersing and discovered a victim who had suffered a gunshot wound. The victim identified as 21 year old Terry Koontz was pronounced dead by the county coronor.

 The initial investigation indicated Koontz was possibly involved in altercation earlier in the evening at another location. If you have any information on this crime you are asked to call Texarkana Arkansas Police Detectives at (903) 798-3154 or Texarkana Area Crimestoppers at (903) 793-stop.

In another incident authorities were called to the 4900 block of  Hwy67/East Broad Street to a vehicle crash involving a pedestrian. 26 year old Holly Smith  of Hope, Arkansas was struck and died according to police who say the driver of the vehicle said he attempted to avoid the female but did not see her in the roadway until seconds before she was struck.

As standard procedurea blood sample was taken from both Smith and the driver for further testing and the investigation continues today.
