The Texarkana College Board of Trustees have voted unanimously to approve the hiring of Kim Jones as the new Chief financial officer of the college.  The move in a special called board meeting approves the recommendation put forward by the new President James Henry Russell.

The Texas jobless rate has risen to 8.2% for June. The Texas Workforce commisssion reported today  that the rate was up from 8% in May but is still under the national average which sits at 9.2%. Texas has added 117,600 jobs since January. The Midland are had the lowest rate at 5.2% with the ighest unemployment rate at around 13% in the McAllen area.

In Sports:

The Texas Rangers begin a new homestand tonight in Arlington. The Rangers who had won 12 games in a row have lost their last two in Anaheim to the Angels.
