Texarkana College has their new man. The College Board of Trustees met in special session last night to name James Henry Russell as their lone finalist for the position of  T.C. President.  Russell currently serves as Superintendent of the Texarkana, Texas ISD.  He has been with the district for over 17 years.

Russell will likely take over sometime next month to replace Dr. Alan Rasco who resigned last month.

The reward for information concerning last weeks Triple Homocide in Bowie County in Northeast Texas has grown to $7,000 after Texarkana Area Crimestoppers increased their portion.

The reward is for information that leads to the arrest of  a suspect, or suspects involved in the deaths of 34 year old Amanda Doss and her 11 year old daughter and 8 year old son.

Authorities are continuing to investigate the crime but so far have not released the official cause of death, or what they believe was used to set fire to the home on FM 991 West of Texarkana, which they say was used to try and conceal evidence from the murder scene. No person of interest or suspect has been named by investigators at this time.

A big change is coming to the Annual Jerry Lewis Labor Day MDA Telethon. The 85 year old Lewis has announced that this year will be his last to emcee the event. He says his final appearance on the show will be by performing his signature song, ' You'll Never Walk Alone" at the end of the telecast. Starting this year the telethon will also be cut from a two day event that goes from lat Sunday Night thru late Monday Afternoon to a six hour cast during prime time hours on the Sunday of Labor Day Weekend.

Lewis says he will continue to serve as National MDA Chairman as he has done so since the early 1950's.

In Sports:

The Dallas Mavericks host the Oklahoma City Thunder tonight  in Game One of the NBA Western Conference Finals. The winner of this series will go on to face the winner of the Chicago/Miami series in the  NBA Finals in June.
