A  helicopter has airlifted six Boy Scouts and their two adult leaders from the Albert Pike Recreation Area in Southwest Arkansas. High Water from Flash Flooding had stranded the group in the heavily wooded area. 

Concern grew over the past several days for the group from Lafayette, Louisiana after they did not return home Sunday as planned and efforts to contact them in the remote area failed.  A  helicopter overnight spotted a campfire and the group and they were rescued from the high ground they had sought to flee the flooding.

The Federal Government has approved disaster aid for eight Arkansas counties hit hard by Severe Storms, Tornados, and flooding in the month of April. FEMA has approved help for Benton, Clay, Faulkner, Garland, Lincoln, Pulaski, Randolph, and Saline Counties. Governor Mike Beebe has sought assistance for 57 Arkansas Counties affected by the severe weather last month.

In Sports:

The Dallas Mavericks and Atlanta Hawks have taken 1-0 leads in their respective NBA Conference Semi-Finals. The Mavs won on the road in Los Angeles and the Hawks went to Chicago and beat the Bulls.

There is one are boys high school baseball game slated for today as Liberty-Eylau takes on North Lamar  at Mt . Pleasant this evening starting at 7 pm.
