Little Rock Zoo Closed Through Saturday Due to Excessive Heat
Just in case you may have had plans to visit the Little Rock Zoo this weekend you may want to scrap those plans because the zoo is closed beginning today August 24, through Saturday, August 26, due to the excessive heat wave that has a grip on the state.
Excessive Heat
Zoo officials say the temperatures are expected to soar into the triple digits near 108 degrees for the next several days. First and foremost the zoo is concerned not only about the safety of their guests but the animals as well.
The zoo is expected to reopen on Sunday, August, 27, under modified hours, 8 AM to 2 PM only. The decision to limit outdoor exposure during these dangerously hot days was made for the well-being of staff, guests, and animals.
Zoo officials will continue to monitor the weather forecast and advisories for any additional changes or modifications. You are encouraged to visit the Little Rock Zoo's Facebook page or website for the latest updates.
The Little Rock Zoo also wants to remind guests that the zoo will be closed on Saturday, September 2, due to the Razorback football game at War Memorial Stadium.
