The Little Rock Zoo is amid some growing pains through late 2026 with Project Zoo. This transformation will not only reimagine how guests see the zoo, but also how they experience Arkansas's only zoo.

Upgrades to The Little Rock Zoo - The Zoo Remains Open

A complete renovation and upgrade of the front entrance and nearby animal habitats is now underway. Soon, guests will be welcomed by an updated entry plaza and a revitalized amphitheater space designed to be inviting and engaging.

Several popular habitats will be updated and expanded to bring guests closer to the animals in their natural environment. The old spider monkey and lemur habitats will be transformed as part of our commitment to building a more sustainable Zoo.

Habitat Upgrades and New Spaces

Several animal spaces will be renovated for improved indoor viewing opportunities. Expanded spaces for up-close animal interaction, habitat upgrades, and new spaces for both returning favorite animals and a new species area. The iconic mushroom structure, which has been a feature for decades, will be removed for a more suitable modern entry experience with sidewalk repairs and an accessible pathway into the zoo.

When the construction is complete, the Little Rock Zoo will be more dynamic, accessible, and inspiring for its guests. While construction is ongoing, zoo guests are asked to remain patient and use the temporary pathway adjustments and occasional detours. The zoo may look a little different during this ongoing project. Additionally, there will be limited restroom access in the front plaza. Pay attention to the new signs throughout the zoo to help guide you and keep you informed.
