Local Paper Mill to Cut 110 Jobs By July

Domtar Corporation announced today that it is cutting about 110 jobs & permanently shutting down one of the four paper machines at its Ashdown, Arkansas pulp and paper mill. The cuts will be instituted by July 1, 2011.

The company says it is reducing their annual uncoated freesheet paper production capacity by about 125,000 short tons because of demand decline in North America. The mill is located about 20 miles north of Texarkana.
