Looking for a unique place to eat? I've been hearing a lot about Lovell's Taco Bus out on South Lake Drive, so one evening when I got off work I decided to venture out to see what the talk was all about.

First of all, I almost missed it because the bus sets back a little ways from the highway so you have to be really looking for it.  But the easiest way to locate it is, just knowing it's right next door to Sports Magic. As I approached the bus, music was playing, and the smell of food coming from it, smelled so good. Kind of took me back to when my mama used to be cooking up some Mexican food and I could smell the aroma the moment I pulled up to the front gate.

After introducing myself to Lance and Stacee Lovell. the owners, I placed my order for some street tacos. I ordered a whole order of the chicken tacos for $8.00,  you get 4 tacos with your choice of corn or flour tortillas.  I love the corn tortillas for tacos because I just think they are just more tastier. Man, were they good! Stacee and Lance wanted me to try their steak tacos so they threw one in along with their Mexican corn with cheese, it was awesome. I can guarantee you if you leave their hungry, it's your own fault because their tacos are loaded with meat and cheese with all the extras.

I went back over the weekend and tried their 10-inch steak Quesadilla and I couldn't eat it all but it was muy bueno. So unless you're really hungry, I suggest you go with the half order.  I haven't tried their burger yet but it looks delicious!

Here are a few more menu items.

  • 6 oz. Steak Cheese Burger
  • Chicken Taco Burger
  • Cheesy Smoked Turkey Sandwich
  • Cowboy Burger
  • Mexican Corn
  • Cilantro-Lime Rice

Stacee and Lance are really pleasant to talk to and they told me originally when he purchased the bus they were going to use it as a camper then decided to use it as a snow cone and Ice Cream business but felt they were not turning enough profit so they eventually settled on the Taco Bus. "After all, people really seem to love street tacos these days." said, Lance Lovell. I asked him where he got is cooking skills from and he credited his mother, no doubt.

Lovell's Taco Bus is  open Tuesday - Friday 4PM - 8PM and Saturday, 12 noon - 4PM, Closed Sunday and Monday.

All I can say, is give this young couple a try, and I guarantee you won't be disappointed. Table and chairs are available for eating outdoors or you can take it to go.

Their phone number is 903-255-7085.
