Sad news to report from the Miller County Emergency Management Office as the Mandeville Volunteer Fire Department's Assistant Chief was killed in an automobile accident last night.

Lucas Brian Stephenson, who was 25 years old from Texarkana, Ark. was responding to a service call last night, Tuesday, October 26 on State Hwy 296 near Joey Lane when he lost control of the vehicle.

Miller County Judge Cathy Harrison said in a press release,

“Lucas was an integral member of first responders here in Miller County. He would respond to help with any event that required his experience and training, sometimes even alone. We are devastated by his untimely passing and request the public to honor this family, most of which are also firefighters.”

Lucus worked at Cooper Tire and was a graduate of Arkansas High School.

Firefighters, family and friends will be meeting tonight to honor Lucas at the Mandeville Volunteer Fire Department.

This is a reminder that first responders whether it's firemen, police, paramedics and all other emergency responders, put their lives on the line each and every day for the safety of our community. All of us at Townsquare Media send our prayers to Lucus' family and friends.
