MC Vogt Named TAMUT Head Women’s Basketball Coach

Texas A&M University-Texarkana has promoted Mary Chris "MC" Vogt to Head Women's Basketball Coach, making her the first female head coach in the program's history.

Vogt previously served as the Eagles' Associate Head Coach and Recruiting Coordinator during the 2025-26 season, helping lead the team to a 20-10 record. She now takes the reins as the program prepares for its move to NCAA Division II and the Lone Star Conference.

Vogt's Championship Background

Before joining Texas A&M-Texarkana, Vogt spent 10 seasons with the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, where she helped the Ragin' Cajuns earn conference championships, postseason appearances, and back-to-back Women's Basketball Invitational titles.

Earlier in her career, she spent five seasons on Hall of Fame coach Gary Blair's staff at Texas A&M University. During that time, the Aggies captured the 2011 NCAA Women's Basketball National Championship and made several deep NCAA Tournament runs.

Athletic Director Ryan Wall said Vogt has earned the opportunity through her leadership, dedication, and commitment to student-athletes. Wall said in a press release,

We believe maintaining continuity while building on last season's success positions us well for the future. She has earned this opportunity through her leadership, work ethic, and commitment to our student-athletes.

Vogt said she's excited to lead the Eagles into a new era of competition.

As the university continues its transition to NCAA Division II, Vogt said she looks forward to helping the program grow while preparing student-athletes for success both on and off the court.

Tunnel 2 Towers Steel Across America - Texarkana Stop - June 3, 2026

On the 25th anniversary year of 9/11, this steel beam from the Twin Towers in New York that fell on September 11, 2001, is a must-see. The ceremony was very well done and featured short speeches from both Texarkana Mayors and Fire Chiefs. I know many in attendance weren't even alive when the attack happened 25 years ago, but for those of us who remember exactly where we were and what we were doing when the planes struck the towers, it was an amazing thing to see and touch.
