Memorial Day is a day to remember and mourn those who have fought and died in service to the United States of America.

May is Military Appreciation Month

This month is Military Appreciation Month, and several restaurants in Texarkana and nationwide are celebrating by offering free and discounted services to servicemembers and veterans this month. This applies to all branches of the military for active-duty, retired, and veteran members.

According to U.S. Veterans Magazine, check with these Texarkana restaurants before going to make sure they are honoring these deals.

Cici's Pizza - 10 to 25 percent off discount to military members, active duty, veterans, and their immediate families.

Cracker Barrel - Military members can get a Verified Promo Code for discounts. They can also shop the limited-edition American Heritage collection in the store.

Dairy Queen - Partcipating Dairy Queen locations offer military and veterans discounts, some up to 50 percent off select items or orders.

Hooters - Show a valid military ID and get a 10 percent discount and 20 percent off and on Tuesdays for food only.

Lone Star Steakhouse - Veterans and active-duty military get a 20 percent discount every Monday and 10 percent off every day.

Long John Silver - Get a 10 percent military discount all year long at participating Long John Silver locations when you show your valid military ID. Get 20 percent off any order on Memorial Day.

Newk’s Eatery - Get a family meal deal for two pizzas and a salad for $20 from May 23-26.

Outback Steakhouse - Active-duty military and veterans can get a 10 percent discount through Outback's Heroes Discount when you show a valid ID.

Wendy's - Get special coupon savings on patriotic holidays through the Members of Veterans Advantage.
