There’s something about the careful lines of a charcoal drawing, the expressive strokes of oil on canvas or the imaginative collaboration of mixed medium art that captures our imagination. Now is your chance to come connect with art on an emotional level during one of the biggest art shows in the region.

The Midsummer Art Show opens to the public today at the Cossatot Community College in Ashdown, Ark. Featuring 167 adult paintings and 80 youth paintings from local artists, making the show bigger and better than ever before.

Mary Francis McKay is one of the organizers of this year’s event. When I met her at Two Rivers Museum on Tuesday, she was sure to tell me about the show. “It’s simply wonderful,” she says. “We have people come from Texarkana and other neighboring towns each year, and they just love it.”

If you’d like to attend, the show is open this Thursday and Friday from 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. Cossatot Community College is located at 1411 North Constitution Avenue, Ashdown, Ark. 71822. Admission to the event is free of charge. For more information, call (870) 898-5200.
